UVIC Centennial Stadium

About this place

Centennial Stadium, located on the campus of the University of Victoria, is a historically significant stadium with a versatile range of sports facilities. Originally built as a Canadian Centennial project in 1967, it commemorates the 100th anniversary of Canadian confederation. Over the years, the stadium underwent renovations, notably expanding to a temporary seating capacity of 30,000 during the 1994 Commonwealth Games before settling at its current capacity of 5,000 seats. The stadium boasts a state-of-the-art 400m synthetic rubberized track, along with dedicated areas for various field events. Inside the track, there is a natural grass field that accommodates football and soccer. Centennial Stadium serves as the home ground for the Victoria Vikes soccer team and Victoria Highlanders FC, and it has hosted significant events like the 2002 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship.
