About this place

The Greater Victoria Velodrome, situated within the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre, features a 333m outdoor bicycle racing track in Colwood. This distinctive velodrome, one of only two in British Columbia, was initially built for the 1994 Commonwealth Games with a focus on public accessibility. Managed by the Greater Victoria Velodrome Association (GVVA), which was established in 1991, the track's design incorporates more moderate banking in the corners to accommodate public use beyond competitive events. Its historical significance, tied to the Commonwealth Games and its purposeful layout, makes it a unique destination for cycling enthusiasts and those looking to experience this specialized sport.
